To raise us and guide us well, in wisdom and love. To help us along the way where there were gaps in those. To walk with us as we grow and change through seasons of life. To tell us the truth we cannot see,and name the boundaries that would help us thrive.
These are some of the things that stir in me as I think about our faith community, and what we each have received from those within and outside of our church. And also… the ways we are called to guide and serve and protect those in our spheres at times.
These things are on my mind as I prepare to leave Omaha and a worshipful board meeting with minister friends new and “old.” One treasured friend and mentor I have known for 30 years! Truly, I have grown up in the faith and in leadership with Rick an essential part of my village that stretches across the country. Our focus was on telling and receiving stories; We’ve caught new visions of how important this is for ministers (lay and ordained).
It will SURELY be good to be home tonight, and to settle into our November worship and outreach rhythms. Our worship service will honor the village of saints we hold in our heart. Deep thanks to Sarah, Erin, Larry and Padraig for holding the fort down these past two weeks. I understand Daryl and others have been dealing with an untimely appliance crisis (refrigerator, the week of sauce!) Thanks to all the helping hands!
In Christ’s Peace,
Pastor Jacki
