Have you ever felt like you were hearing the voice of God; maybe in prayer, or a dream, or just in a feeling?
Each person, or generation may hear something different, like they can bring something new to the church. This Sunday is often called Reformation Sunday across the various protestant denominations. It remembers a time, just over 500 years ago, when the monk Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of the church in Wettenberg, Germany beginning the Reformation and as a result the Protestant church. He felt in that time that God was leading him in a different direction, to do things differently than they have been done in the past and start something new.
In our tradition of the UCC we often say not to put a period where God has placed a comma. God did not stop communicating with people at the end of the Biblical stories. God spoke in the past, is speaking into the present and will continue to speak into the future. So as we go through this week I hope to keep up with this tradition of Martin Luther and our tradition of the UCC, to look and listen for where God might be leading us next.
Be Well,
