Among other pictures and metaphors, the Scripture for this week suggests the kingdom of God (the way and work of God) is like a tiny mustard seed. Tiny, but it grows and grows and grows.
And the point from a series of metaphors is that God’s kingdom is NOT what we’d expect by our normal human sense of reliable or moral operations.
We’ll reflect this Sunday on a number of related images – encouraging and humbling- from Matthew 13. I hope we’ll be challenged, encouraged and empowered as we do so, for the hopes we have for our own lives, our church and wider community.
In the coming days, weeks and months, we’ll need “all hands on deck” for fundraising and wise planning purposes. But if we ensure and remember that it is GOD’S WORK (not our burden) that we express, we will achieve God’s will and experience the joy of trusting Him.
Watch for a Fundraising Committee update in the coming days, including a survey which will help us all “plug in” in the way and scope that we can right now.
In Christ’s Peace,
Pastor Jacki
