Rev. Jacki BelileThere is much to grieve and to worry about in this Day.  And, paradoxically, we can all name some of the “resets” of pace and space that we have a hunch may be for our long-term good.

The group who met for the new series “Peace in Corona Times” (Tuesdays, 7:30) brought that to life.  The seven of us who gathered reflected together on the verse from 2 Timothy 1:7 (“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of self-control.”)

We spent some time going in depth into the ways we see fellow citizens ACROSS THE THEOLOGICAL AND POLITICAL SPECTRUM seeking to enact power, and embody love and demonstrate self-control.  This brought to the fore the aspects of this present crisis which show is the face and spirit of God, and this helps us touch peace and diminish fear.

We closed by sharing personal intentions about the values and actions most important to each one of us to take in this time, aware that we might not yet be fully doing that.  It was truly a refreshing space!

Join us next Tuesday for a similar format and fresh discussions on these Biblical injunctions:

“Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16)
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1)

Peace for the Journey –
Pastor Jacki
