This past Thursday was Ascension Day, the day that many in the worldwide Church remember Christ’s Ascension as told in the first chapter of Acts. I’ve always empathized with those left down below… what a roller coaster they’d just experienced! Personally and pastorally, I’ve always clung to the wisdom (and challenge) of his preceding words…
‘It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’
What are we promised? No answers about when. Seldom answers about why. But always experiences (not always felt as “answers”) of His presence and power. And these gifts are not for the worldly gain we might imagine; they are for our transformation and for serving and blessing others in His name.
Join us Sunday morning for reflection on these themes together. I’m especially excited about Kate Rau’s debut as our music leader.
Peace, love and prayers –
