So the saying goes, and we probably would affirm. It’s not a radical proposition, but a deeply traditional one, that we need community and family. That there are times it is our duty to step in for others in need and do what has to be done to make a difference for and with them.
I leave the rest of the interpretation of the Luke 5 healing story to Sarah, who will be preaching this Sunday on the story pictured above. A day when determined friends created a ruckus to lower their friend down into the midst of a gathering underway with Jesus. It’s a complex story and leaves us with questions as well as admonitions. For sure, it must make us ponder MISSION and the needs and callings we hold here in our Eden community.
I encourage you to linger for about 30 minutes after our fellowship time for a “Mission Q and A” time. This builds on our 2021 sessions (two during Lent) and the Spring 2021 survey responses about needs and issues we care about. I hope to share helpful info about what we support with time and money, and hold space to hear your thoughts on making those impacts more powerful AND whatever else might be on your heart about our mission in 2022 and beyond.
This will be a brief start to such conversations. meant to plant and water seeds. We’ll take the lap top into parlor to facilitate a “hybrid” conversation. Hope you’ll come and share and listen! We’ll be done by 11:45 for sure.
In Christ’s Peace,
Pastor Jacki
