The altar above was designed last year, early in the pandemic on the theme of “living stones”. That theme is on my heart again as we retell the birthday of the Church (capital C) and Eden in these Pentecost weeks. (Learn more about Pentecost here.) May it be that we indeed feel the significance of being living stones and being fit together into the spiritual house God intends here. It is the Spirit which would lead us to be breathing, growing, interconnected version of “spiritual house.” The Spirit, it is safe to say, is NOT the bringer of burdens and preoccupations with institutionalism.
I also treasure this cross of living stones as a concrete example of the amazing tending of our altar and so many other things which Duane has faithfully undertaken over so many years, He designed this last year for our Eastertide memorials. Living stones we are, knit together for God’s purposes and in this place for a season.
We’re also going to miss Sally, who along with daughter Naureen, has been with us a shorter season. Sally’s leaving beautiful communion cloths behind, just a simple concrete expression of ALL the ways she’s been a blessing to Sunday morning and Tuesday evening church!
A few thoughts –
While we will miss you all, we truly celebrate the joy you feel upon these relocations!
God made Zoom so that we might remain connected in the ways we mutually need!
As Gene says: Christians don’t see good-bye, we only say “See you later!”
In Christ’s Peace,
Pastor Jacki
