In the Christian rhythm of the ages, we have steadily hosted worship weekly on Sunday mornings every week since March 22nd. Worship attendance has been steady, arguably “up” in comparative summer terms. We never closed. We continued fellowshipping and learning on Tuesdays, and praying on Wednesdays (online and then later in the sanctuary).
Some have been unable to join us “live” on Sundays but have benefited from recordings we had not previously done. We were (and will continue to be) open in this new way. Some have joined us via Zoom as a newfound blessing, having been too far away or physically able to attend in recent years. We were (and will continue to be) open in this way. Some have taken a break altogether, but journey on in heart and goodwill, just glad for a break or sad we were not at 5051 and desiring not to do “the internet thing.” As you discern what you need next, know that our hearts and prayers are with you. We will be OPEN at 5051, and also via Zoom, and in any other way you need in order to partake in the worshiping community.
So, we’re going to “return” to sanctuary open for corporate worship on Sunday, September 13th for “Rally Day,” a tradition of dedicating our inter-generational ministries and building to God’s use for the year. We’ve long known it would be important to give you a sense of what to expect from liturgy and one another. To get a glimpse of this please check out the videos and document placed on Facebook and our website. (Note one correction to videos: Joys and Concerns will not be spoken, but collected via Zoom and written cards.)
To reach out with any questions or concerns about our procedures, drop-in to the regular Eden worship Zoom line on Friday or Saturday evening between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
Lastly, please do consider our “Labors of Love” activity on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. for sanctuary and other building prep. (Started in 2015, “Labors of Love” is what we call our occasional work day at the church. By “day” we usually mean a couple hours:) Please let the office know you’ll be able to help at info@edenuccchicago.org.
Together, Let’s RALLY! For the annual tradition of common purpose, and for the demands set before us in these challenging days. Join us for Rally Day 2020 – “What’s in a Name”?
In Christ’s peace,
Pastor Jacki
