That’s one thing on my mind as I think of labors (and labor pains) of all kinds. Read more at this lovely prayer-poem. And metaphors of God’s intention such as the pottery creation (throat clearing, and pottery discarding…) which we read about in Jeremiah. I ask myself: Am I shape-able?
I’m also constantly wrestling with the discernment of rhythms of doing and being. And at least “being” while I am doing. In a world crying out for attention, resolution, actions actions of the faithful… what kind of WORK ought we take up? As you’ll see in our return to the Call to Worship from Matthew… Jesus would bless us with a WORK that brings rest. Is that a riddle?
Join us Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom.
I am especially thrilled to welcome visitors this Sunday from South Church in Mount Prospect, pastored by the Rev. Rick Kesler. Congregants will be visiting other churches this week while Rick is away. I served as South Church’s sabbatical pastor in 2016, and am grateful for the continued kindred spirit in our ministries.
In Christ’s Peace,
Pastor Jacki
