I can’t believe I said that. But, you know it’s true. Our summer outings and adventures have finished. Our youth have had a variety of camp experiences, leadership development opportunities and – hopefully – a little leisure. Our adults and families have had trips to the SE, SW and NE. We’ve worshiped regularly with strong attendance many Sundays and have made new friends of passersby. We’ve represented Eden well at neighborhood events and look forward to the fruits of relationships deepened. I’m savoring the wholeness of it all. The variety of ways we’ve served and connected.
Personally, I had thought there might be a little more down time for me. There has not been huge chunks… but I have done a respectable job of gardening, and of savoring early morning time by myself. I even walked at Montrose Harbor a good handful of days. These times of beauty and solitude – believe it or not – keep this extrovert going. I AM working hard on finding a retreat place to get to for two days late next week, so I can prayerfully work on some Fall worship and education planning in an integral way. I will hope for a working but restoring retreat.
Setting our attentions to Fall.. PLEASE JOIN US SEPTEMBER 7 AND 8 FOR RALLY DAY WEEKEND!
Saturday we’ll hold an Open House with space sharing groups, and David Angel will lead the way on our “RibsFest” Lunch Fundraiser. We expect Live Music and Fun Games and Prizes indoors and outdoors.
On Sunday, we’ll receive new members and celebrate the kick-off to a great year in inter-generational worship (including BLESSING THE BACKPACKS for our returning students) and a “Growing Eden’s Family” slideshow at lunch.
Watch for the flyer this weekend by special email, and an on-line sign-up tool for volunteer needs. Thanks to David A., Ed, Katie, Linda, Larry, Nina and Ben for planning input so far.
ONWARD! (Or, as we say at Eden… “Forward in Faith!)
For the Good News,
Pastor Jacki
